My Story

Hi, I’m Zoe 👋

In 2026 I’ll be running the Great North Run in memory of my dad. Something I never imagined I’d be able to say.

I’ve never been a runner. Until recently, I’d barely even call myself active. But after losing my dad so suddenly in June 2024, just one week after I gave birth to my son, everything changed. 💔

They never got the chance to meet, and that loss has shaped me in ways I’m still learning to understand.

Running has become my way of coping, healing, and pushing myself forward, physically and mentally. Every mile is a reminder that I can keep going, even when things feel impossibly hard.

My dad completed marathons and ran the Great North Run multiple times. He showed me what determination looks like, and I know he’d be cheering me on every step of the way.

I’m raising money for St Oswald’s Hospice, who supported my dad through their lymphoedema outpatient clinic. The care he received there gave him confidence, pain relief, and a better quality of life during a really difficult time. The impact they had on him, it's something I’ll always be grateful for.

This run isn’t about times or pace. It’s about honouring my dad, looking after my mental health, and showing my little boy that even when life knocks you down, you can still get back up and keep moving forward.

If you’re able to donate, share, or support in any way, thank you from the bottom of my heart. Every penny raised helps St Oswald’s continue the incredible work they do for families like ours.

Thank you for being part of this journey with me 🫶

I've joined #TeamStOswalds in 2026 for the biggest half-marathon in the world.

St Oswald's Hospice offers care and support to adults, young people and children with life-limiting conditions, from across the North East. Every donation made to my page will make a real difference and help the hospice team to continue their vital work.

By running the Great North Run 2026 with St Oswald's I am committing to raise a minimum of £300 towards the work of the Hospice. If you can spare any change and donate to such an amazing cause or if you'd like to join me on the team please get in touch with the team on 0191 246 9123 or [email protected].

Thanks for sponsoring me for being part of something incredible for St Oswald's Hospice.
