About
We are a team of four from Tyne Valley Motorhomes taking on the Great North Run 2026 to raise money for Daft as a Brush Cancer Patient Care, a charity that means a great deal to us.
Our team is:
- Jonathan Bell – Managing Director
- Simon Chainey – General Manager
- Elizabeth Hall – Handover and Sales Specialist
- Peter Pilbak – Marketing Executive
Running has never really been part of our daily lives, so taking on the Great North Run is a huge personal challenge for all of us. But we are committed to training hard, pushing ourselves out of our comfort zones, and doing everything we can to support a charity very close to our hearts.
At Tyne Valley Motorhomes, Daft as a Brush means so much to us because it was the favourite charity of the late Derek Armstrong. Supporting this cause is our way of honouring his memory while helping a truly incredible North East charity continue its life-changing work.
Daft as a Brush provides free, specialised transport for cancer patients travelling to and from hospital for chemotherapy and radiotherapy treatment, mainly to the Freeman Hospital and the RVI. Using its fleet of blue ambulances and dedicated volunteers, the charity offers more than just transport, it provides comfort, kindness, companionship and reassurance at a time when people need it most.
The charity helps thousands of patients every year and is funded entirely by donations, which means every contribution really does make a difference.
By supporting our Great North Run challenge, you will be helping Daft as a Brush continue to provide this vital service to cancer patients and their families across the North East.
We know 13.1 miles will not be easy, especially for four people who are far from seasoned runners, but we are determined to give it everything we have for this amazing cause.
Please donate whatever you can and help us support Daft as a Brush Cancer Patient Care.
Thank you so much for your support.
