About us

Working at Blythe House Hospice as the Community Engagement Officer, I see first hand the impact all money raised directly supports the charity to support patients with a life limiting illness when they need it most. 
It's really humbling to be able to run the Great North Run and in my head, for every bit of the hard 13.2 miles, I run for those who can't. Every step of the way on the road is South Shields is for a patient, family member or carer who need our wraparound care. 

60,000 determined and dedicated runners make the AJ Bell Great North Run the World’s biggest and best half marathon – famous for its warm North East welcome, unbeatable atmosphere and the millions raised for good causes. 

The AJ Bell Great North Run is an opportunity for us all to come together and support one another. Its magic can be hard to understand – until you have experienced it yourself. You’re guaranteed a running event like no other - and a finish line feeling you’ll never forget.

It's not all about the adults, the AJ Bell Junior & Mini Great North Run gives the kids a chance to experience that finish line feeling, earn a special medal & raise money for good causes.
