My Story
Two years ago, our lives changed overnight when my daughter was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes. Nothing truly prepares you for it. The constant monitoring, injections, alarms through the night, hospital visits, and the worry that never really switches off — it’s been incredibly tough for her and for us as a family.
Type 1 diabetes isn’t something that can be prevented or cured, and it affects everyday life in ways most people never see. From counting carbs and managing blood sugars, to dealing with the emotional and physical impact, it’s a daily challenge that she faces with strength well beyond her years.
That’s why I’m running the Great North Run for Diabetes UK. This charity provides vital support to families like ours, funds life-changing research, and works towards better treatments — and one day, a cure.
By supporting this run, you’re not just backing me on race day — you’re helping children like my daughter live healthier, safer, and fuller lives.
Thank you so much for any support you can give. It genuinely means more than I can put into words.
