Help Kiera Raise £500 for Police Care UK
Kiera Richardson
My Story
Hi, I am Kiera. I am a dog mum to two crazy dogs and I love to run. In 2026 I will be taking on the Great North Run to raise money for Police Care UK. This charity means a lot to me because of what my family has lived through over the last couple of years.
Two years ago my partner was involved in a serious and traumatic incident while on duty. It is a risk that every officer accepts when they put on the uniform but nothing prepares you for the reality of it. The aftermath involved a long and stressful process that kept him away from active duty for over two years.
It was a difficult time that affected him, me and our wider family as our lives felt stuck in limbo.
Fortunately we were not alone. The care he received was amazing and allowed us to get through it. He was provided with group counselling and specialised therapies to help process the trauma. His colleagues and federation reps stood by him every step of the way, checking in constantly and offering support to me and his parents as well.
Thankfully that chapter is now closed and he is back doing the job he loves. But looking back I know that this support system didn't just save his career. It protected his mental health.
I am running to make sure that other officers and their families have access to this same level of protection and care.
I am busy training to make sure I can complete the race in the best time possible. Please donate if you can so we can keep looking after those who look after us.
