My Story
Why I’m Running the Great North Run for RNLI
I’m proud to be a volunteer crew member with Bridlington RNLI, serving both on the inshore lifeboat and as part of the shore crew. Every time our crew launches into the unknown, we’re not just saving lives at sea—we’re upholding a tradition that means everything to our community. Bridlington’s lifeboat station has a rich history, but what truly makes us special is the spirit of our One Crew family.
For me, running the Great North Run isn’t just a personal challenge. It’s my way of honouring every single person who makes our lifesaving work possible. I want to shine a light on the unsung heroes—the fundraising team—whose passion, creativity, and relentless effort often go unnoticed. Without their dedication, we simply couldn’t do what we do. Their work is the lifeblood that keeps our boats afloat and our crews ready to respond, day or night.
Too often, the drama of rescues at sea overshadows the immense contributions of those working tirelessly behind the scenes. But the reality is, every rescue, every life saved, is only possible because of the entire Bridlington RNLI community—those who brave the water, and those who move mountains on land.
This run is my tribute to all of them. I want to raise the flag for Bridlington RNLI, celebrate our fundraising heroes, and show just how much this community means to me. By bringing together my love of running and my devotion to the RNLI, I hope to give back to the people who have given me so much—and help ensure our crews can continue saving lives at sea for years to come.
Here’s where you come in:
Your sponsorship isn’t just a donation—it’s a lifeline. Every pound you give helps us train, equip, and support our volunteers, so we can keep answering the call when lives are at risk. The RNLI is an important part of so many lives in Bridlington and beyond. By supporting me, you’re helping to keep this vital service running, and you’re joining a community of people who care deeply about saving lives.
Please sponsor me for the Great North Run. Together, we can make a real difference—one step, one rescue, one life at a time.
Because when the pager goes off and a life hangs in the balance, it’s not just the crew who respond, it is an entire community. And together, we can keep saving lives at sea.
