My Story

I was what people called: a dog person.

Then, in 2019, I (reluctantly) got my first cat — a norwegian forest kitten with black & white tuxedo markings for £40 from some bloke's living room off Gumtree, before I knew any better — called Boudica.

I quickly fell in love with this puff of fluff's personality, love-headbutts, forgiveness when I was short with her, and willingness to accept snacks as apology. She was, and is, always there when I felt low.

When Boudica nearly died from toxic shock in late 2020, it was also when I learned how difficult and heartbreaking it can be to care for your animals.

Thankfully, she recovered, though now suffers from seizures. My second — your bog-standard black tuxedo cat, Marceline — has a double-jointed tail and falls over a lot. Not much more to say there, she's just an idiot and we love her.

That’s why I’m running this half marathon: to raise money for Cats Protection.

Cats Protection rehome thousands of cats every year (currently keeping an eye out for our next one...) and support owners, promote vital neutering programmes, and step in when cats (and their humans) really need help. My local branch in Frome even guided me through what to do when I found a stray pregnant cat in labour in the back garden recently.

Please share this page, or donate a few quid if you can — it's going directly to my local branch in Frome.

I want to help more cats find safety, care, and their second chance at having a home — and help me justify running 13.1 miles voluntarily when I could be at home, being judged silently by my own two cats.

Thanks a bunch, from me & mine. 🐈‍⬛
