Why the hell am I doing this?

I am hitting 50 in July and needed some incentive to actually get up off my bum, lose some weight and try to get fit... so I have signed up to run the Great North Run.

I have always loved animals so want to help a worthy cause and raise money for Newcastle Dog and Cat Shelter.

Earlier this year, our cat Leon sadly passed away. After a short illness, he was diagnosed with a tumor on his skull. It was inoperable, so we had to make the difficult decision to let him go.

After the run is over, we are looking to bring another cat into our home. We may get a rescue cat or kitten.

Every penny raised will help to care for, rehabilitate and re-house dogs and cats in the Newcastle area.

Please donate what you can to encourage me to actually go through with the crazy idea that I can stay on my feet for 13 and a bit miles.
