About us

As Europe’s largest conservation charity, we look after nature, beauty and history for everyone to enjoy. We do it with the help of millions of members, volunteers, fundraisers and donors.

On Sunday 13th September 2026 our team of amazing runners will be taking on the Great North Run, the world's biggest half marathon. Famous for its warm North East welcome, incredible atmosphere and spectacular coastal finish line at The Leas, in South Shields - cared for by the National Trust and home to the iconic Souter Lighthouse.

Our runners miles and your support will help to care for 780 miles of coastline, over 250,000 hectares of countryside and 500 historic properties, gardens and nature reserves for everyone, for ever.

Every donation will make a big difference.

  • £100 could pay for 4 river silt traps, filtering pollutants from our rivers.
  • £50 could restore 200 square metres of peat, locking up carbon.
  • £25 could create 60 square metres of wildflower meadow, vital habitat for pollinators.
  • £10 could plant one sapling, creating food and homes for wildlife.
