We’re Butterfly Conservation, the UK’s only charity dedicated to protecting butterflies, moths and the places they call home. Our vision is simple: to build a world where these species can thrive, creating a powerful butterfly effect for nature.

Sadly, 80% of UK butterflies have declined in abundance, distribution, or both since the 1970s. It’s a worrying loss of colour and life from our landscapes.

By taking part in the 2026 Great North Run for Butterfly Conservation, you’ll help turn the tide, restoring threatened species, reviving native habitats and landscapes, and inspiring more people to connect with the natural world. Every mile you run helps bring hope back to our countryside.
